blad vertegenwoordigt een klein deel van mijn schilderwerk. Voor
meer informatie neem gerust contact op met mij. One artist... different styles! As
an artist painting has always been a battle of colour and balance
for me. I mostly paint with rollers, sponges, and pallet knife
and in a lesser degree with brushes. My work is best described
as abstract impressionism and usually is made in series. Impressions
of colour and shape move me to express myself again and again.
The bright contemporary African colours and the often-ingenious
method of problem solving have always had a very strong influence
over my work. The harsh and seemingly lifeless environment of
the Karoo (semi –dessert where my roots are) is full of
life and colour to the trained observer. The colours on nature’s
pallet change constantly with the seasons and fine nuances in
lighting and weather result in great contrasts of strong and soft
colour. Just as the immense differences in climate and countryside
in the semi dessert, my paintings change in composition and use
of colour! In my battle to find those feelings of intense heat
during the day and long sultry evenings, images are created that
best express my feelings and memories of these wonderful days

These watercolour paintings were a result of an accident in more ways than one. Several years ago I broke my ankle and was chair bound for longer periods of time. Wanting something to do I grabbed my watercolour pads, paints and brushes and started messing about. Watercolours not being my forte I experimented and by chance found that the end result was far better than I had anticipated!!! I sometimes have the urge to make more fairytale paintings, and thus I only manage to make several per year. De bovenstaande aquarellen zijn het resultaat van toeval en een ongeluk. Toen ik mijn enkel brak een paar jaar terug en aan een stoel gekluisterd was, zocht ik iets te doen. Met mijn penseel, aquarelverf en tekenblok begon ik te experimenteren. Gezien dat aquarelleren mij niet echt licht, was de verbazing des te groter toen ik het eindresultaat zag!!! Het gevolg is dat ik het soms niet kan laten om er een paar keer per jaar enkele “sprookjes”bij te maken.
